Restaurante El Jardín
A very solid set lunch with warm service, fair pricing, and a menu I would happily order from again.
Why go
After 15 years in La Manga, these are still the places I look for most: simpler spots without the tourist gloss, but with proper food and decent service. Restaurante El Jardín felt exactly like that kind of place.
I visited on Wednesday, 2026-10-22, for lunch at around 13:30, with one other person. Even after just one visit, I can say the strongest point here is the Menú del día: tasty, straightforward, and, at the time of my visit, very fairly priced.
First impression and getting here
One thing I liked right away was the parking. There is a car park, and from what I saw there is usually space. In La Manga, that only sounds like a small detail until you are circling around looking for somewhere to leave the car.
The restaurant has two terraces plus indoor seating, so you can choose depending on the weather and your mood. If you come at lunchtime, the daily menu is shown on a board right away, which makes things easy. No need to sit down first and wonder whether it is worth it.
What we ate and whether the set lunch is worth it
We ordered two set lunches. One was more on the vegetarian side: salad, fried cheese, dorada, and cheesecake for dessert. The other was the meat option: salad, beef stew, slow-roasted pork from the oven, and a chocolate tart. At the time of our visit, one drink was also included in the price.
From the daily menu I saw that day, there were several starters and mains to choose from, including beef stew, fried cheese with sweet tomato jam, gazpacho, dorada, cod with tomato, and oven-roasted pork knuckle. My repeat order would be easy: the fried cheese with tomato jam was a very good start, and the dorada was the kind of dish where you could really feel the freshness, not just correct cooking.
What I liked most was that the food felt non-touristy in the best sense. It was not trying to please everyone, just a properly done lunch menu. Service was very good too: calm, efficient, and without that unnecessary rushing some places mistake for professionalism. During my visit, the set lunch was 16 euros and coffee was 1.50, and at that price the value felt very strong.
Who this place suits best
If I had to keep it short, I would come here first and foremost for the set lunch. It is a good pick when you want a proper sit-down meal rather than a quick bite, whether you are a couple or a family.
Based on my visit, it works well for both couples and families, and for lunch or dinner. At lunchtime, there seem to be tables available, but in the evening it is better to book ahead because many tables get taken, especially on weekends. Since that is time-sensitive information from my visit, I would still check the current situation before going for dinner.
Good to know
In the evening, especially on weekends, tables can be harder to get, so booking ahead is a good idea.
